The Team
Newton Abbot Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic, established since 1987, The partnership comprises Elizabeth Haysom and Ian Mant.
Ian Mant

I qualified as a chartered Physiotherapist in 1989 from the Nottingham School of Physiotherapy. After two and a half years working as a rotational Physiotherapist in NHS Hospitals, including the Leicester Royal Infirmary, I joined The Loughborough Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic because it meant I would be involved in treating sports injuries at Loughborough University.

I eventually became a partner in the practice with a colleague.
In 2002 I moved to Devon, having seen an opportunity to acquire a new clinic,
as the founding Partner of The Newton Abbot Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic wanted to retire. I subsequently formed a new partnership with Elizabeth, which continues to thrive.

Having always been interested in sport and been a competitive runner, I have a special interest in Sports Injuries and, in particular, the biomechanical issues associated with running.

I tend to treat clients using a combination of joint and soft tissue mobilisation techniques.

My philosophy is that health is all about prevention, so my treatments do involve strengthening exercises, including Pilates which I practice myself and advocate.

Liz Haysom

I qualified from the Leeds School of Physiotherapy in 1980 and worked for the NHS in Lancashire before moving to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in 1982. After 5 years as a Senior Physiotherapist at both Torbay and Newton Abbot Hospital I became a partner at the Newton Abbot Physiotherapy & Sports Injuries Clinic in 1989.

Over the course of my career I have undertaken many courses to enhance my skills. I studied at the European College of Bowen Studies qualifying in the Bowen Technique in 2003. This is a highly effective hands-on therapy which works on the fascia and connective tissues including the muscles. It is a very gentle technique which reduces muscle stress and tension so encourages musculo-skeletal realignment and promoting healing.

I have also qualified as a Clinical Pilates Instructor at the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute and so have established a unique and integrated physiotherapy/Bowen/rehabilitation approach ensuring holistic therapy for all my patients
